If tying Roy Lassister in scoring the most goals in a season or setting the record for most game winning goals in a season wasn't enough, Chris Wondolowski added a new record this month when being named Mr. October.

To say that Chris Wondolowski is having a good year, might be a bit of an understatement.

The face of the San Jose Earthquakes was able to tie Roy Lassiter's record of 27 goals in a single season which has stood for 16 years. Eleven of those goals were game winners, which just happened to break the previous record of 9 which Wondolowski tied Carlos Ruiz in 2010. Now, the MLS MVP frontrunner can add a new record to his name after having been named Mr. October by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).

No Major League Soccer player has ever been named Player of the Month more than three times in one season; however, this year, Chris Wondolowski has taken home the honor four times: April, June, September and now October. But what makes October special is that this is the third consecutive season that he has won this accolade.

Wondolowski had only won Player of the Week four times this year (Weeks 9, 19, 29 and 31), of which only the latter two were in months in which he won Player of the Month. What helped him garner the award in October was the potent striker having scored two more goals than any other player during the month of October and having found the back of the net in each of San Jose’s three games; including a hat trick against Colorado Rapids. Wondo helped earn San Jose a record of 1-0-2 for the month.

Wondolowski garnered 15 out of 18 votes, the other three votes were split by Sporting Kansas City's Jimmy Nielsen, Philadelphia Union's Jack McInerney, and DC United's Bill Hamid.
